K2 Sea Venture was originally ordered from Bjarne Aas in 1929 by Kenneth F. Trimingham for Lloyd P. Jones, together with his K1 Viking and K3 Achilles for W.J.H. Trott. The boats were built in the Bjarne Aas yard at Fredrikstad in Norway and shipped to Bermuda in February 1930. In a team race against the US boats shortly after arrival, they beat the American team and stayed in competition with her Aas sisters through the 30's. In 1939 she was sold to the J. Lewis Stackpole in 1939 and sailed out of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts numbered US70. She was finished 'bright' and was destroyed in the disastrous Great Atlantic Hurricane that struck Mattapoisett and surrounding areas in September 1944.
