Museum of Yachting to host the 2009 International 6 Metre World Cup

Newport, Rhode Island, USA - The Museum of Yachting has been selected as the official organizing authority for the 2009 International 6 Metre World Cup event. The Museum of Yachting has demonstrated excellence in conducting world- class sailing regattas with the highest quality social events and race management -- making world class racing fun, memorable, safe and affordable. "We are confident that Museum of Yachting, under the leadership of Bill Doyle, will find suitable sponsorship for the event that will maximize our media exposure as well as support our regatta budget," explained Toby Rodes, Vice President of the North American 6 Metre Association. "The Museum of Yachting recently organized the 12 metre North American championships and has extensive experience with regatta management, as well as the social aspects of major events."

Newport, Rhode Island was the site of the America's Cup for many years and is the cradle of American yachting. Every sailor should have the opportunity to place Nerwport on their sailing resume and it is hoped that 6 metre sailors will come to the event to compete and enjoy the charms of this American sailing paradise.

The Museum of Yachting is a private not-for-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to preserving the culture of yachting by fostering education and enjoyment of its history through the presentation of vessels, artifacts, literature, events and regattas. The Museum explores the many ways in which yachting demonstrates human achievement in the arts, technology and design.
