- Boat Name:
- Year Built:
Batbyggarna AB, Ronnang
- History: Originally built for Bengt Hellsten and well travelled in her early days. She was also owned in partnership with the "Walking Tall" TV show star Bo Swenson.
Bear spent some time in San Diego, where she received a new Proctor mast and was involved in some type of Northern California/Southern California 6 meter match race/yacht club challenge. Mark (the fellow who did some of the work) said that Bear was around San Diego for a while, and that he got out on her a few times. She was mostly driven by Vince Brun at that time, but they did not do so well against Paul Cayard and the St Francis Yacht Club in US 120 St Francis IX. In her debut regatta, the 1989 World Championships held at Marstrand, Sweden, she placed 8th of 37 and followed the next year at the Europeans Championships held ayt Sardinia, placing 7th of 17. She was campaigned beyond that, but records are scarce. Eventually sold to Rees Martin and in the UK for a while until Andy Parker acquired her and shipped the boat to Puget Sound. She has been receiving some work to her hull finishes and is expected on the course in later 2016.
